The last killer in Terrorscape 2 core game: Parasitoid. It’s the most special killer that may turn survivor into the killer team!
1982 was the year it was discovered. It is a prehistoric creature that lives within the fossils of a conch. The scientists were all amazed and enraptured. But not long after, they discovered the true horror of it and made necessary sacrifices to prevent the creature from escaping.
Eleven years after the incident, the Company finally located the forgotten outpost and established a research station to uncover the secret behind this deadly organism. They were on high alert. However, the creature—Parasitoid, as they called it—proved to be much cleverer than they had anticipated. After a series of bizarre murders, the humans realized: anyone could be infected. Now, nobody trusts anybody…
—————

Hi everyone,
This is Jeffrey. I’m here to announce the third killer in Terrorscape 2—Parasitoid. It’s no exaggeration to say that Parasitoid will be the most special killer throughout the series, as it can literally turn players from the survivor side to its side!
Infecting Survivors… Who could you trust?
The first time Parasitoid damages a survivor, the survivor player randomly draws an infecting token, which represents either immunity or infection. If it’s an infection—congratulations! The player will, from that point on, secretly be part of the killer’s team. If an infected survivor is on the team when the survivors win, the killer and the infected survivor will win instead! Therefore, survivors will have to either spend time checking for infection or deduce whether their friends are still human based on their behaviors… But can you really trust them?
Balance Issue and Special Victory Condition
Implementing this “imposter” feature in Terrorscape is challenging. It’s clear that the three-survivor team play is crucial against one killer; moving even one survivor to the killer team will vastly change the game’s dynamics. To maintain the uncertainty vibe, I preferred a randomized infection rather than a fully controlled one. As a result, I realized during development that a drawback for the killer is necessary when infection occurs. That drawback is: when an infected survivor appears, the innocent survivors could win by eliminating the infected! With this design, survivors will still have a good chance to win in various situations. They will have to decide whether to stick to the escape plan or prepare weapons to fight each other. Meanwhile, the killer and the infected also have various strategies—they could pretend, cause chaos to stall the survivors, etc. The infected could ambush their teammates, or even try to send secret signals to the killer to assist in hunting humans!
How about 1 vs 1?
I know many players enjoy Terrorscape in 1 vs 1 mode. I personally enjoy 1v1 matches a lot because they’re even more strategic, tense, and “mind-gaming” (sorry, I don’t have the exact term, but I think you know what I mean). Parasitoid is primarily designed for a 4-player game, but I’ve also developed a variant for fewer player counts so nobody misses out on the opportunity to play it. In this variant, survivor players cannot observe the infection status of the survivors, but the killer players can. The killer avoids hunting a certain survivor? That could be a clue to infection—or perhaps a setup to stall?
More Features
Parasitoid is more than just its infection mechanic. It is also the first killer that often generates combos with [SENSE]. Many abilities can be strengthened or become available after you [SENSE] a survivor. If you’re an experienced Terrorscape player, you might see Parasitoid as a slow but high-strength killer that requires more hand management. Success depends on making good use of the cards, damaging all survivors, and sowing suspicion and distrust among them.
Keep on Working
The development is still in full swing! We are currently playtesting and trying out many ideas. So modifications are possible in the final product. But you have my word, the final version will be even better than the current one that I’m sharing with you.
